Dhaka – Marcelo Carlos Sesa, Argentina’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, held a meeting with Anwar Hossain, administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at the EPB office in Dhaka to discuss trade and investment between the two countries.
They also focused on expanding collaboration between the two nations.
Both parties recognized the significant potential for boosting bilateral trade through strengthened partnerships, according to a press release issued today.
During the meeting, they stressed the importance of increasing communication and fostering deeper ties between the business communities of Bangladesh and Argentina to unlock new opportunities.
Ambassador Sesa and Anwar Hossain proposed organizing roadshows and single-country fairs to facilitate direct interaction between entrepreneurs from both countries.
Such events, they noted, would showcase the strengths and capabilities of Bangladesh and Argentine while enabling businesses to explore mutually beneficial opportunities.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s progress in diversifying its garment sector, Anwar Hossain shared details about the country’s focus on producing high-value apparel made from man-made fibers.
He sought the Ambassador’s support in promoting Bangladeshi garment exports to Argentina, emphasizing the potential for growth in this area.
In addition, Hossain expressed Bangladesh’s interest in importing cotton from Argentina, pointing out the mutual benefits of establishing such a trade partnership.
He highlighted the positive impact this collaboration could have on the economies of both countries.
To facilitate greater business exchanges, Anwar Hossain also requested the Ambassador’s assistance in streamlining the visa process for Bangladeshi businesspeople traveling to Argentina.
Simplified visa procedures, he said, would encourage stronger ties and open doors for more trade and investment opportunities.
The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening economic and trade relations between Bangladesh and Argentina, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to exploring avenues for mutual growth.
